Brisbane's coolest cafe Paper Moon can be found along Annerley Road in an old colonial store with art deco decor, Wurlitzer jukebox and free pool.
Formerly It's Vintage Darling, mother and daughter team Jodi Craig (who used to run the now defunct Joynt) and Holly Whitefield have collaborated to create a cool, relaxing space with exposed brick walls, art deco posters, lamps and lounge - where patrons can sip locally roasted Bear Bones espresso, listen to jazz and play pool.
Quiet conversations can be had in one of two back rooms, both equipped with comfy couches; while retro red booths and arcade game tables line the footpath.
Besides espresso, the cafe carries quality loose leaf teas and Emma and Tom's smoothie juices; or BYO beer, wine and spirits (corkage fees apply). To compliment your beverage, a small menu includes sweets and light eats like banana cake, caramel slice, sweet chilli chicken wraps and organic steak pies.
There is also a lovely, well-shaded and intimate space where live music plays, and is inhabited by a couple of gentle dogs and cats.
